Day 01 :

Machame Gate (1,800m) – Machame Camp (3,000m)

Begin your adventure at Machame Gate, where registration and crew introductions take place. The trek starts through lush rainforest with chances to spot colobus monkeys and tropical birds. Overnight at Machame Camp.

Hiking time: 5–6 hours | Distance: 11 km

Day 02 :

Machame Camp – Shira Camp (3,840m)

Leave the forest behind and ascend into the heath and moorland zone. Trek across rocky ridges with spectacular views of Mount Meru in the distance. Arrive at Shira Camp on the plateau.

Hiking time: 4–6 hours | Distance: 5 km

Day 03 :

Shira Camp – Lava Tower (4,630m) – Barranco Camp (3,960m)

This is a key acclimatization day. Ascend steadily to the Lava Tower (4,630m) before descending into the Barranco Valley for overnight. This “climb high, sleep low” method aids acclimatization.

Day 04 :

Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (4,035m)

Start with the thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall. The climb is steep but non-technical and offers some of the best views of the trek. Continue over ridges and valleys to reach Karanga Camp.

Hiking time: 4–5 hours | Distance: 5 km

Day 05 :

Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,640m)

A shorter but steeper trek today takes you to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the midnight ascent.

Hiking time: 3–4 hours | Distance: 4 km

Day 06 :

Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,110m)

Wake up around midnight and begin the summit climb under a sky full of stars. Ascend slowly to Stella Point (5,739m) before the final push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend back to Barafu for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp.

Hiking time: 10–14 hours | Distance: 15 km

Day 07 :

Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate (1,640m) – Arusha/Moshi

Descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your official summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi/Arusha for a well-earned rest and celebration.
